I have this love hate relationship with Pinterest. More love than hate. And only hate because I don’t have enough hours in my week to do all the wonderful things I find there. I decided to blog about the few things I deem worthy enough to try to let you all, my lovely readers, know what works and what doesn’t. Maybe help you weed through all of your pins too
That brings us to our first Pinterest Yay or Nay. Oh how I wish I could tell you these were yummy. So delicious that you had to try them right now. But alas, I can not. They were just…mediocre…at best.
I tried to go the healthier route and do baked not fried. I think that’s where I went wrong. You see, at local festival, I had the tastiest fried apple cider doughnut. It was coated in this cinnamon and sugar messiness and it melted right in your mouth. This is one doughnut I guess you have to stick with the original for.
I was also disappointed in the glaze. Powdered sugar, a couple tablespoons of cider and heavy cream…just tasted like powdered sugar to me. Not good but it did make the bland doughnut a littler better.
Pros of this doughnut:
Baked, not fried
had most ingredients on hand..just had to get the apple cider
very fluffy..had a great spongy texture
Cons of doughnuts:
lack of taste
Oh how I wish these had turned out! If anyone has a baked apple cider doughnut they have tried, send the recipe my way!
