Every holiday, my friend does this really cool thing for her girls. She has a breakfast table decorated with the holiday theme and has a holiday breakfast all planned out. So cute. Super cute. So super cute in fact, I stole the idea. I stole it and decided to share it with the world. (Sorry Amanda–hope you don’t mind!)
I went ahead and did a mock up Halloween table to show you all the wondrous glory of this special table. This is what it will look like on Halloween morning when my kids wake up and come downstairs.
The all Hallow’s Eve elves worked their magic the night before and left this cool surprise for my pumpkins.
I decorated the table in the traditional black and orange. I kept the decor toddler-friendly but if you had older ones, you could always make it creepy. It would be really cool to scare-it-up-a-notch and add creepy music and fog. And a strobe light…and a…well, you get my point.
All of the decor I found at Target. Most of it in the dollar bins. Score! Nothing better than creating a great memory at a discount price.
I bought each of the kids their own light up pumpkin. It was $3 and if T is in one of his throwing moods-and lets face it, when is he not?- it won’t be a big heartache that he breaks his. I also bought them a craft to do. (also found in the dollar bin at Target) to do while they wait for me to make their breakfast.
I bought both of them a Halloween themed book. I am a sucker for cute books and I can’t wait to read these to them! The two I bought are:
Room on the Broom and Is That You Wolf? Both super cute but I really like the wolf one. I don’t normally go for books that have things kids can tear out, because within a week, the book is ruined. But this one doesn’t have flaps–just a pocket that you stick your hand in and can feel things like the wolf’s “tongue” or “fur”.
I have to show you all the straws I found at, where else, Target. Aren’t they cute? I go enough for Trick or Treating later when my niece and nephews come over.
Now, my next task is to figure out some spooktacular breakfast recipes. Do you have any up your sleeve you’d care to share?
Happy haunting!!!
